The Junior Bruins swept the Jersey Hitmen in the USPHL Premier Division finals with their 5-4 win on Thursday. The B’s, who won game 1 by a 4-3 score, got down 2-0 in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Chris Miller scored in the 1st to cut the deficit to 1.

In the middle frame the B’s took the lead on two goals from Timmy Doherty.

Doherty scored his 3rd of the game and 5th in 2 games to give the Bruins a 4-2 lead. The Hitmen fought back and tied the game with 3:14 to go.

The game looked to be headed to overtime until Vinny Russo picked up a loose puck in the neutral zone and went in on a 2-1 rush with just under a minute to go.

Ryan Cloonan, a left shot, was on the rush skating down the slot to Russo’s right. Cloonan, opened up his body and stick looking for a pass he could one time and Russo delivered a perfect pass and Cloonan buried the game winner.
